Each multiple-dose pre-filled pen contains 4 doses of 0.6ml solution which can be administered. Each dose (0.6ml) contains 5mg of tirzepatide.
Mounjaro is indicated:
1. For the treatment of adults with insufficiently controlled type 2 diabetes mellitus as an adjunct to diet and exercise:
• as monotherapy when metformin is considered inappropriate due to intolerance or contraindications
• in addition to other medicinal products for the treatment of diabetes.
2. For weight management, including weight loss and weight maintenance, as an adjunct to a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity in adults with an initial Body Mass Index (BMI) of:
• ≥ 30 kg/ m2 (obesity) or
• ≥ 27 kg/m2 to < 30 kg/m2 (overweight) in the presence of at least one weight-related comorbid condition (e.g., hypertension, dyslipidaemia, obstructive sleep apnoea, cardiovascular disease, prediabetes, or type 2 diabetes mellitus).
This medicinal product is subject to additional monitoring. This will allow quick identification of new safety information. Healthcare professionals are asked to report any suspected adverse reactions.
By prescribing Mounjaro for weight loss, you agree to the following:
You have completed a medical assessment of your patient and they are suitable for Mounjaro.
You confirm that they fall within the BMI range for the product.
You confirm your patient has a BMI >30 (>27 with comorbidities) that requires the use of Mounjaro for weight loss.
You confirm that the patient is monitored throughout their use of Mounjaro and an assesment is completed before each prescription is issued.
